Research
In his research, Philipp Kiiver concentrates on the areas of constitutional law,
transnational parliamentarism and European integration. His work is embedded in
the Montesquieu Institute (Centre for European Parliamentary History and
Constitutional Development) at Maastricht University. In 2008 he was awarded a
Veni grant from the Netherlands Organisation
for Scientific Research (NWO) to carry out a three-year research project into
different forms of parliamentary accountability.
Editorial work Since 2007 he is a member of the Editorial Committee of the Maastricht Journal of European and Comparative Law. From 2003 to 2005 he was a secretary in the editorial staff of the European Human Rights Cases journal. Teaching Philipp Kiiver is the coordinator in charge of various comparative constitutional law courses, and he gives lectures mainly in the areas of European and comparative constitutional law. Having won the European Law Moot Court Competition himself in 2002, he routinely participates in the coaching of Maastricht student teams at international moot court competitions. Thesis supervision He supervises Bachelor’s and Master’s theses, co-supervises PhD theses and takes part in PhD assessment committees within his fields of expertise. Faculty responsibilities Since 2005 he has been a member of the European Law School curriculum committee. From 2008 to 2010 he served on the Faculty Board as Associate Dean; his portfolio covered the steering, supervision and development of English-taught programmes. As of 2011 he is a member of the Faculty’s permanent advisory committee for tenure appointments. |
