If you cannot decide on a subject, don't know whom to approach, or you have any other questions relating to your thesis, not to worry! You can consult our Department's thesis coordinator, dr. Walter Hendriks. He hosts a thesis hour every Monday morning from 10.00 to 11.00 am in room 1.086. Please make an appointment via our secretary, tel. 043 388 3812.
Before making an appointment, make sure you have read the Essential Guide. In many cases, you will be asked to develop your ideas and to put them on paper in a thesis proposal, containing (1) a clear problem statement that is embedded or derived from academic literature plus (2) a section on how you envision to answer it (i.e., a method section). Once you have an approved proposal on paper, the coordinator will assign a supervisor. This choice is committing, so don't go around 'shopping' for a supervisor within and between departments. If you do, you will lose the right to be supervised by us.
Remember that a match asks for the approval of the potential supervisor. If your proposal doesn't attract a supervisor, chances are that you have to rethink your topic.
List of topics per staff member (this list also includes a link to the availability of staff members).
note: if you plan to do a thesis within the area of Project management or Human resource management, please check on forehand for availability of supervisors.
Currently, we have a lot of supervisor space in the Strategy part of our department.
