Research

My research focuses on the development and prevention of antisocial behavior problems in children. Antisocial behavior problems, such as aggressive, non-compliant, and delinquent behavior are a major social and financial burden on the community. These problems can lead to poor school achievement, rejection from peers or parents, substance abuse, depression, and poor job performance. The goal of my PhD-project is to test the effectiveness of Parent Management Training Oregon model (PMTO) in The Netherlands. PMTO is an intervention for parents who have children between 4 and 12 years old with severe behavior problems.
Further research interests are psychopathic traits in children and the relationship between parenting and behavior problems in children.
I also conducted some research on spousal assault and offender profiling.
