The
Methods in International Finance Network (MIFN) aims at
promoting research in the domain of international finance. It provides a
platform for researchers and advanced PhD students to exchange research ideas
and share new research findings; with an emphasis on the interactions between
econometric methods and economic theory.
The Network activities include a) annual
meeting/conference, b) exchange of PhD students between participating
universities, and c) applications for European or National grants. Additional
activities will be added subject to the Board’s approval.
a- The organization of an annual workshop (at the end of June) where all the participating universities have to be present. The annual meeting of the board will take place during this meeting. The annual workshop should give a similar weight to junior and senior staff. The location of the workshop is fixed during the meeting of the board of the previous year. The financing of the workshop is devoted to the organizing university and cannot at this stage be financed by the MNIF. The first workshop will take place in Maastricht the last week of June 2007.
b- The promotion of PhD exchange. MIFN can stimulate it and organize the matching.
c- A centralization for European or national call of tenders. MIFN will act as a reference network for the application for European or National grants. It will automatically constitute a portfolio of universities ready to participate to the call of tenders. It does not constitute in any case an obligation for the participating university and bilateral agreement has to be obtained. MNIF nevertheless targets the application to one of the coming Marie-Curie network subsidies provided by the European commission.
