Research Group

Inge Klinkenberg, MSc

Project: Role of M1 receptors in cognition and the possible role in schizophrenia.

Anke Sambeth, PhD [homepage]

Project: Psychopharmacology of memory models. In this project we evaluate the memory models that have been developed to explain memory consolidation and retrieval on basis of cholinergic and serotonergic connections in hippocampal circuitry.

Anke has now been appointed as an assistant professor at the FAculty of Psychology and Neuroscience

Former PhD students

Cindy Lieben, PhD

Project: Investigations into the effects of acute tryptophan depletion in rats. This were the first studies in rats in which the effects of acute tryptophan depletion were investigated at the behavioral and biochemical level. Cindy Lieben is now working on a project investigating the efefcts of TRP enrichment in MS patients.

Cindy is now working at ORBIS Medical Hospital as a researcher. She investigates the effects of tryptophan enrichment on mood and cognitive functions in MS patients.

Kris Rutten, PhD

Project: Phosphodiesterase inhibition and memory. The effects of selective PDE inhibitors on memory performance were evaluated in different models of learning and memory. Kris Rutten is now working at Grünenthal

 Linda Jans, MSc

Project: Evaluation of serotonergic vulnerability. Assumed vulnerability conditions (eg. genetic, environmental) were evaluated by applying acute tryptophan depletion in the experimental groups. Linda Jans is now working at the Univeristy of Leiden.
